Niels Vink (2002) is beating off. He is currently one of the best wheelchair tennis players in the world in the quad category (you play in this category if you have a disability in at least three limbs). And if it is up to Niels, it will stay that way for the time being.
His trophy cabinet is already richly filled. He won gold (doubles and singles) at the Paralympics in Paris in 2024 and has won numerous tournaments, including the grand slams of the US Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon. But Niels is far from finished and is hungry for more titles, both singles and doubles.
Being a wheelchair tennis player doesn't just happen. At the age of one, Niels lost both legs and several phalanges. But his physical limitations never stopped him from challenging himself and achieving top athletic performances. On the contrary; it motivated him to fight hard - and to show that even with a disability you can make your dreams come true. With that attitude and his indomitable enthusiasm, he is an inspiration to many.
