Niels not only has an eye for the ball, but also for things outside the tennis court. Like the initiatives below, of which Niels is an ambassador.
JOHAN CRUYFF FOUNDATION
Since 2024, Niels is the proud ambassador of the Johan Cruyff Foundation. The Johan Cruyff Foundation supports and develops impactful sport and play projects worldwide. In doing so, they focus on children and young people for whom sport cannot be taken for granted.
In 2012 Niels got to know the Johan Cruyff Foundation for the first time at the open day and Niels was able to meet Johan himself in person, this day made a big impression on him. Niels particularly wants to inspire and motivate children to enjoy sports and exercise, regardless of whether you have a disability or not. The shared vision of Niels and the Johan Cruyff Foundation makes the collaboration between the two an ideal match!
RONALD MCDONALD CHILDREN'S FUND
In the vacation homes of the Ronald McDonald Children's Fund, families with a child in need of intensive care find a place to unwind, close to each other. As a top athlete, Niels knows better than anyone how important relaxation is, because the bow - and the racket - cannot always be tight. Such a relaxed vacation feeling is something Niels wishes for everyone. Especially families with a child who needs more care. For anyone in a similar situation, it is of immeasurable importance. Niels' parents are experts by experience; when Niels was one, they stayed for three months in Ronald McDonald Huis Utrecht. Partly because of this, Niels takes his ambassadorship of this wonderful organization for granted!
