It's getting harder and harder for Niels not to be recognized on the streets of New York. He won the US Open for the third time this year. Admittedly in the doubles, together with Sam Schröder, but shared joy is double joy. In the singles final, the same Sam was too strong for Niels.
Niels smoothly reached the final of the US Open, the last grand slam tournament of the year. Niels defeated Francisco Cayulef, Koji Sugeno and Andy Lapthorne, respectively. No one managed to win more than two games per set from Niels.
Time for the final battle. There awaited Niels' mate Sam Schröder. After an entertaining game of tennis, Sam rode off the court victorious: 6-3 and 7-5. Congratulations, Sam!
Double win
In the doubles Niels did win the top prize, together with Sam. In the final match they defeated Andy Lapthorne and Donald Ramphadi in two sets: 6-1 and 6-2. In short: silver and gold. Not a bad score in The Big Apple!
