For the second time, Niels is ITF World Champion! Last year Niels already won the prestigious title and this year he hit it again. No surprise, after his top year.
The ITF World Champions Awards have existed since 2017. David Wagner was the first winner, then Dylan Alcott went on to win the award three times in a row. In 2022, the award ended up in a nice spot in Niels' living room, and so this year it will. This is not very surprising, as Niels won almost everything this year. Only twice did he have to congratulate his opponent - both times Sam Schroeder - with the victory. In return, he has 53 victories.
"Last year I already shouted that it was my best year ever," Niels responds. "I repeat that this year: 2023 was my very best year. It was great to win Wimbledon for the first time and to defend my Roland Garros title. I also won the Super Series. In general, I became a better player, so I'm very satisfied!"
