Niels successfully defends Roland Garros title

My trophy case is starting to fill up nicely. In fact, last weekend I took delivery of a new prize, and it's not exactly carnival stuff. It is a beautifully shiny bowl I received after winning Roland Garros! It's my third grandlam title and as far as I'm concerned, not the last.

In the final I defeated my good buddy Sam Schroeder. He still won the first set from me (3-6), but after that I hit back literally and figuratively: 6-4 and 6-4. It was a long battle and a great fight with - for me - a happy ending.

Good day

It is not easy to play against Sam. First of all because he is a great tennis player. But also because we play doubles together and therefore I know him so well. The flip side of that is that he also knows me so well. To beat Sam, you have to have a good day. I luckily had one. And I am still having it now, because I enjoy such a great success for a long time.

Next stop: Wimbledon

Although summer is in full swing outside, I have no vacation for now. At the end of the month I'm going to England to prepare for Wimbledon, in mid-July. Grass is not exactly my favorite surface, but I like a nice challenge. I'm going to do my best not to disappoint my fans. So if you cheer me on - live or by giving out hearts and thumbs up on social media - I'll try to take care of the rest. Good deal, right?
